Unpack was born out of personal and professional experiences, where ethical dilemmas concerning data-driven technology continued to emerge.
The toolkit was initially designed by Jiye Kim (she/her), a masters graduate from Köln International School of Design (KISD), as part of her Integrated Design thesis in early 2023 and has continued to evolve since then. The primary goal of this toolkit and the Unpack platform is to provide everyone with a safe space and a dedicated time to explore and uphold ethical values while mitigating unintended impacts in a practical manner.
